Release notes
What changed in each version of ZEEP, newest first.
4.2
Compress, rebuilt. The one-slider compressor became five knobs: Threshold, Ratio (2:1, 3:1, 4:1, 8:1), Knee, Attack and Release. Presets cover voice, instruments, drums, sudden peaks and full mixes. A live gain reduction meter with a green zone from 2 to 6 dB shows where to aim, Threshold opens at a value estimated from your recording, and bypass plus a preview volume let you compare properly.
Changed for clips compressed in 4.1: the old setting is translated to the five knobs and loses the automatic make-up gain the old compressor added, so those clips play quieter until you raise Volume.
Match moved into Volume. One tool now handles level and loudness: the LUFS readout, the loudness line and target band, and the Match button. The separate Loudness tool is gone.
Cheat sheets in three tabs. Compress (Quick start, Presets, Knobs) and Equalizer (Quick start, Frequency map, Knobs) follow the same shape, and their links name the problem they fix.
Headphones and Bluetooth. Connecting headphones no longer silences playback. Unplugging pauses instead of switching to the speaker, in the editor, every tool preview, the Library and the recorder.
Also in 4.2:
- Tool waveforms keep showing what you heard while a new measurement loads, instead of flashing the unprocessed picture.
- Numbers use your device's decimal separator everywhere, timecode included.
- Sliders, switches and choices share one card style across the tools and settings.
- Dragging sliders on long clips stays smooth.
- Pro: synced files that are on this device carry a glyph next to the cloud badge.
- Strip Silence always removes every silent stretch; the "Apply to" choice is gone.
- Two crashes from earlier versions are fixed.
4.1
Parametric Equalizer. Shape a clip's tone on a graph over a live analyzer: high and low pass, shelves and bells, Width (Q) from 0.3 to 10. Voice and Music starting points, quick picks per band including hum removal at 50 or 60 Hz, solo or mute a single band, and bypass to compare.
Exact values with one finger. Tap any slider's readout for a value wheel.
Volume up to +40 dB, so quiet recordings from external mics can reach a loudness target.
Denoise recalibrated. The model's input level follows the recording's loudness, and export matches the preview. A new Clean gaps switch, on by default, makes the silence between words deeper.
Cheat sheets for Equalizer, Denoise and Compress.
Also in 4.1: speaker and headphones icons for Mute and Focus; a recorded take shows its waveform right after Stop and Resume; switching Projects no longer carries over the previous playhead.
4.0
ZEEP Pro, an optional subscription: Library folders, Projects to keep several sessions, and sync of Library folders and Projects with your own OneDrive. The editor, every lane included, stays free.
The Library became a player. Playback continues in the background with lock screen controls, a now-playing bar with previous and next, repeat, and a queue that follows the list you're looking at.
Loudness. A clip loudness reading in LUFS with one-tap Match to a target (since 4.2 part of Volume), and a true-peak limiter that keeps loud exports from clipping.
One Export. One Export button and panel replace the separate Save and Share tabs. From the Library, Save to device writes into any folder through the Android file picker, and a cancelled save no longer leaves an empty file behind.
Clipping warnings. Importing or recording audio that is already clipped now shows a warning.
Also in 4.0: a notification centre on More; applying several steps at once (Volume and Compress together) now saves all of them; faster, steadier audio scanning on long files.
